Tianjin port to be promoted by China as international shipping hub


The port aims to achieve 560m tonnes cargo throughput and 22m teu container throughput by 2025 and make breakthroughs in terms of intelligent and green port construction. This project it is undertaking jointly with Huawei.
In an attempt to speed up Tianjin’s development to be an international shipping hub in north China, China’s National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Transport jointly issued guidelines to that effect.
With Tianjin striving to be one of the top 20 international shipping hubs, the goal is by 2025, Tianjin’s position as the international shipping hub in north China will become more noticeable.
Authorities will support Tianjin port to consolidate port resources locally, and promote the coordinated development of ports in Tianjin and Hebei province.
In the first seven months of 2020, Tianjin Port Group reported 10.287m teu container volume and 251m tonnes cargo throughput, an increase of 4% year-on-year.
