Increase in stowaways trying to reach Europe
Four Algerian stowaways were found on board of general cargo ship JANINA at Valencia, Spain, on Aug 25. One of them who claimed to be a minor was taken ashore while the rest remained on board. The ship left Valencia same day, bound for Mostaganem, Algeria, so with any luck, JANINA will get rid of them at the Algerian port. There has been a sudden increase in stowaways found on ships arriving at Valencia, 11 so far have been found in less than 3 weeks.
