Another failed pirate attack in Ghanaian waters.

In a recent report by the Executive Director of the Centre for Maritime Law and Security Africa, Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali, the country’s waters have witnessed another pirate attack.

This time around, the attack was not a successful one as the pirates reportedly abandoned the mission after chasing the vessel for a while. He said that this reported case is the second in a week, all following up on the successful attack on AP703 on 28 August off the coast of Ghana which had the Captain and another crew member kidnapped.

It is crucial for Ghana to step up counter-piracy efforts and urgently also to have the requisite legislation to prosecute pirates, he added.
